The Midsummer Apocalypse

Three year from the day the Sanctuary fell.

A day that will in the future years be described as the Midsummer Apocalypse.

A day when seas boiled and mountains sank and fire fell from the sky. A day of loss and destruction and Rupture, for almost everyone.

The day passed much more peacefully in the isolated city to the far west that few has ever set foot in. No natural disaster, no sudden wars, just everyone suddenly halting in their paths in shock, as memories of their pasts - their true pasts normalised by magic - are brought back. Chaos ensues as different memories conflict in everyone's mind and magic returns to them, alongside the tragedies forgotten.

And then it was the Week of Freedom, when the Law of Equivalence seems to have been suspended and people everywhere were able to use magic without a care for the cost, when true utopia seemed at hand. The Free Week ended as abruptly as it happened and the Law of Equivalence holds sacred once more.

Much chaos ensued as many of the new mages discovered the cost to their magic through painful lessons. Kingdoms toppled, bastions collapsed, and much tears were shed. But the world continued on.

The Midsummer Apocalypse shaped the age to come, as for the first time in all history, every single human alive was a mage. The Free Week became a time of mystery and soon myth, a topic of scholarly fascination and poetic lamentations, a glimpse of paradise that will go down in history and conspiracies as a lasting enigma. Nothing less, nothing more.
