Ad Nauseum is a game set in the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary was made by the Archmage long ago, as a refuge for mages to protect them against the outside world, where tensions against magic are rising. The reason? Magic in this world is governed by equivalent exchange. If you want something, then there must be an equal sacrifice. In fact, magic itself is only awoken in someone after a traumatic event we call a rapture (called rupture by some). There are people who actively cause raptures to awaken more magic in the world, consequently leading to more magic, more sacrifices. Having already had your rapture, how much are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want?
Ad Nauseum is about balance, sacrifices, and futility. There will be themes of time looping and battling against an inevitable force. However, there is ample space, setting, and characters for you to make of this game what you want: be it a philosophical dive into what is acceptable to sacrifice in life, a mysterious investigation into the world of magic and what's going on, or just general shenanigans around town.
The game itself will progress by player interaction with the world around them. This can be with the wide and colourful range of NPCs, the lively setting of the Sanctuary, or even the other PCs. The GMs will be there to moderate and push you along the journey you want to go on. After each discord session of live interaction, you will have a turnsheet you can fill out of things you'd like to do before the next session. This will normally involve some sort of character progression. This mixture of Discord uptime and turnsheet Downtime will decide your character's journey over the next weeks.
