Duty Till Death

For so many years had the old general taken on the responsibility of keeping order within the Sanctuary. He'd seen too many lives lost before, led too many to their deaths… yet he knew that there was no one else as capable and experienced as him. He never wanted this role, yet he could not shirk his duty.

Even in the new Sanctuary he continued to fulfil his responsibilities. What he did was integral to establishing order within the city and preventing the different factions from fighting. Then with the mafia gone, the government stabilised, and no danger coming from the outside world, he began to think about retirement.

But that was not fated to be. On that fateful day, when magic was gifted to all without a cost, chaos broke out within the new Sanctuary. There were those who looked at this phenomenon with caution and used magic sparingly. There were those that used it to better the new Sanctuary and aid others. But there were also people that used it only for their own benefit, even at the detriment of others. Jackson tried to prevent the worst, spread knowledge of the possible dangers of magic even without a sacrifice, yet much of it fell on deaf ears.

In the end he died in the line of duty, never having taken a single day off, holding back an angered mob as Cassandra came to put all these issues to rest.
